Coffee Bros coffee review of what I have tried (so far)
I have yet to make it through their entire selection. I drink about 2-3 cups a day, so with three bags of coffee currently in rotation, I will be living the Coffee Bros life for quite some time.
Right now, I have their Single Origin Costa Rican, Single Origin Ethiopian Keramo, and the Holiday Blend. I’m a massive fan of single-origin coffee because it represents specific flavors from the various countries that produce coffee.
Coffee Bros Costa Rican Coffee
Characteristics
- Medium roast
- Single-origin
- Rich flavor and great versatility
- Cocoa and fruity undertones due to natural processing methods
- Quality and taste praised by customers
The Costa Rican is a medium roast with notes of cocoa and toffee and a sweet, clean body. It has a subtle acidity and low bitterness and is the perfect cup for an early-morning pick-me-up.
This coffee comes from smallholder farms in Las Lajas, Costa Rica, where the locals are passionate about producing high-quality beans using old-world traditions and sustainable farming practices.
I wanted to talk about this coffee first because, honestly, it was my favorite (and that was surprising). I love Ethiopian coffee, but these Costa Rican beans really surprised me with their tremendous depth of flavor. It was just perfect!
I tried it in the AeroPress and as a pour-over. Both allowed the citrus flavor to stand out and the sweetness to come through.
Coffee Bros Ethiopian Keramo Coffee
Characteristics
- Light roast
- 100% Arabica specialty coffee
- Sourced from the highlands of Sidama
- Unique flavor profile with ripe blueberry, peach and delicate violet floral notes combined with delicious milk chocolate undertones
- Dried inside the intact fruit skin in arid regions
- Ethically sourced beans that are freshly roasted to order
- Complex flavors and aromas
Ethiopian roasts are my go-to when I try out any new roaster, and the brothers did not disappoint. This light roast has a unique cup profile with flavors of ripe blackberry and rich chocolate.
It has a bright acidity and sweet finish, which make it an excellent choice for an afternoon cup of coffee.
The beans are sourced from the Keramo Village in the Sidama region of Ethiopia. This is one of the oldest coffee-producing regions in the world, and its farmers have been cultivating their craft for centuries.
I had the chance to try this one in a pour-over, and it was delicious! The bright acidity and sweet finish were beautiful; I could detect hints of raspberry and citrus that complemented the chocolaty base perfectly.
Coffee Bros Holiday Blend
Characteristics
- Medium roast blend
- Sweet, tart, winey acidity
- Smooth finish
- Made up of Central, South, and North American coffees
- Dark chocolate notes
I’ll be honest. Most of the time, I steer away from Holiday blends. I am not a fan of coffees with a lot of spicy flavors. Luckily, the Coffee Bros Holiday blend has none of that. Instead, it has a sweet blend of cooked berries, cocoa, and wine-like notes.
This is a medium roast made with beans from Costa Rica and Brazil. It’s smooth yet bold, perfect for an after-dinner treat or to enjoy during the holiday season.
I tried this in my pour-over and have been using it exclusively to make espresso for the past few weeks! It makes an incredibly smooth and creamy espresso with a sweet finish. It is definitely my favorite way to drink their holiday blend.
Coffee purchasing options
When it comes to coffee bean options, Coffee Bros keeps it traditional by only offering whole beans. The brothers believe in providing the best and freshest beans possible, which means grinding them right before you brew.
They offer options for every type of coffee drinker with light, medium, and dark roasts. Plus, they have a selection of single-origin coffees, blends, and special releases like their Cup of Excellence offerings from Nicaragua and Tanzania.
If you use K-Cups or Nespresso pods, you will need to get a reusable kit and grind your beans.
