I had a chance to try their honey processed Honduras light roast, and it did not disappoint! It was an exceptional coffee with great acidity and distinctive flavor characteristics that will keep me coming back for more.

Volcanica Coffee brought the unique flavor of Copan, Honduras to my cup. Immediately after taking my first sip I was blown away with the sweet honeysuckle notes that quickly transitioned to a lemongrass tea flavor. This coffee has so much character! Copan, Honduras is known for being very smooth with great acidity.

The honey process brings out some of the fruit flavors, including berry, although it’s not overly fruity. I highly recommend trying this coffee if you are looking for something beautiful, flavorful, and easy to drink. Light roast coffee drinkers will not be disappointed.


Sumatra Mandheling Reserve Dark Roast Review

Dark roasts don’t usually get me excited, but when I opened the bag, the sweet smell of fruit smoke made my eyes pop! The Sumatra Mandheling Coffee Reserve was an exotic, syrupy delight that instantly brought a wide smile to my face. It has a smooth, smoky side with a clean winey finish. Also, the full-body flavor had a pleasant mouthfeel.

I tried my first cup late in the evening and was able to enjoy it fully, thanks to the low acidity and bold brown sugar flavors. I love its rich intensity, and it was the perfect compliment to my after dinner snack plate.

The aroma of this dark roast is the most intoxicating I’ve ever experienced. The richness of this aroma made my mouth water and set my coffee senses on high alert. If you love dark roast coffee, this is a must try!

Low Acid Blend Medium Roast Review

  • Low acidity for those with heartburn issues
  • Full of subtle fruit flavors
  • Smooth tasting cup of coffee for any time of day

I’ve mentioned that I struggle with heartburn, so when Volcanica offered to let me try their low acid medium roasted whole beans blend, I got a little excited but also a bit nervous. I’ve tried other low-acid coffee blends over the years but haven’t really found one with enough flavor to drink regularly, so I was hoping this would be better.

Off the bat, it smells amazing! It has a deep dark chocolatey scent that makes your grabs your attention. You can even pick up on some of the fruit notes they mention on the bag. The beans are a great size, not too big and not too small.

So how does it taste? In a word: delicious! I’m surprised how full of flavor it is for being low acidic. It has a sweet chocolate flavor that builds throughout the sip and gives way to some coffee fruit flavors late in the cup. There’s also some nuttiness there too, which reminds me of something like hazelnut but more subtle.

I have to remind myself to drink this one slowly because I find myself trying to drink it as fast as possible without even thinking about it. That’s saying something because usually I’ll dump out an average tasting coffee after two or three sips if I can’t handle the flavor, but not this one!

I’ve had a few large cups of it as my morning coffee and as an afternoon treat to hold me over until dinner. It’s also great any time of day because I know that I can have as much as I want without stomach issues.

I think it could be interesting to try this blend cold brewed. I think the chocolate would come through even more, and I bet you’d pick up on some of the fruit flavors too.

What makes this medium roast coffee great? The perfect choice for people who suffer from heartburn issues due to high acid, caffeinated coffee.

What do I think about Volcanica Coffee?

I’ve tried a lot of coffee brands, and I can honestly say that Volcanica Coffee is among the best I’ve ever had. The flavors explode in your mouth, so you’ll never be disappointed with boring, bland coffee. Great tasting coffee with low acid? Even better!

I’d like to note how easy it was working with the Volcanica team as well during my review process. They were very responsive and extremely helpful- something I truly appreciate in a company/brand.

I’m excited to try more of their blends in the future, but next on my list is definitely going to be their single origin Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee!
